Art at Claymont Elementary!

Hello from Ms. Megan Smock and Ms. Natalie Noble! We are so happy to be the art teachers here at Claymont, where we help students grow, explore, and expand their creativity! Art instruction is once a week for 45 minutes in our art studios.

Students at Claymont will experience a wide range of art, including drawing, collage, sculpture, painting, printmaking, fiber arts, and digital art! Our rigorous art curriculum encourages students to make connections, problem-solve, and explore creative thinking. Choice-based "open studio" days are regularly featured, during which students design and create an independent work of art.

Claymont student artists proudly display their hard work throughout the year in our building, and each spring at the Young Brandywine Artist Exhibition at the Blue Ball Barn in Wilmington, DE. Students also have the opportunity to participate in multiple art contests throughout the year, such as our Yearbook Cover Design Contest (5th graders) and Black History Month Mural Design Contest (2nd-5th graders).

If you have any recyclable materials that you could donate to the art room, it would be much appreciated. Items including large cardboard boxes, shoe boxes, and empty paper towel or wrapping paper rolls, are needed.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Smock or Ms. Noble with any questions.
